Italy Men’s Volleyball National Team might gain a huge reinforcement for the upcoming FIVB World Cup, starting on October 1.

The 31-year-old outside hitter Dick Kooy got the right to compete for Italy National Team and might make his debut in the 2019 FIVB World Cup, Gian Luca Pasini reported in his blog!

A former Netherlands National Team member, for which he competed from 2009 to 2015, changed his sports nationality to Italian, three years ago. In an interview for our website, Kooy explained why he decided to make such a move.

In case of Kooy, a two-year ban determined by the rules of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) upon changing sports nationality ended in 2018 and he is eligible to play for the “Azzurri“.
