Cucine Lube Civitanova lost their first match in the 2019/20 Italian Men’s Volleyball Championship!

Allianz Milano broke the unbeaten record of European and world champions Cucine Lube Civitanova in the 2019/20 SuperLega Credem Banca regular season. The team coached by Ferdinando De Giorgi was untouchable to all rivals in the last 13 games but has fallen to Nimir Abdel-Aziz’s offensive output. The Dutchman scored 30 points (4 aces), while the Frenchman Trévor Clévenot made 4 kill blocks. Milano prevailed in the tie-break and did it on the road: 3-2 (25-23, 18-25, 13-25, 25-23, 15-10). Cuban-born Yoandy Leal put down 21 points for SuperLega titleholders, while Simone Anzani made 6 kill blocks. Both teams played the encounter weakened by a starter (Robertlandy Simón in Lube, Nemanja Petrić in Milano).

Sir Safety Conad Perugia narrowly avoided the same fate as Lube. They came back from 1-2 in sets against Calzedonia Verona and reduced Lube’s advantage in the charts to 6 points. It was Perugia’s 9th successive triumph in the competition, 12th successive counting the CEV Champions League.

Leo Shoes Modena and Itas Trentino recorded confident wins to remain 3rd and 4th placed, respectively.

The match between Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia and Kioene Padova was postponed due to unfinished adaptation of Vibo’s new hall PallaMaiata in which they are about to host SuperLega rivals in 2020.

CHN M: Chinese federation gives in to pressure, male foreigners will play Super League

Great news on the Men's Super League. The Women's you referred to in the news is actually not the same with the Super League though. It is a separate tournament roughly called National Championships where the provincial teams compete for the top honour. Women's Super League won't start until much later. If foreign players are allowed in Men's tournament, then it only.makes sense the same would apply to the women's. Let's keep our fingers and toes crossed! Reply
