As Italian club NBV Verona reported, Kimerov will have to take a break from playing for up to six months, meaning that the season is likely over for him. A 24-year-old opposite hitter, in fact, was the first SuperLega player but also the first known case in volleyball in total, who suffered serious symptoms related to the infection from Covid-19, risking severe complications.

Verona announced that Kimerov was hospitalized for pulmonary embolism. “The player tested positive for the Covid-19 swab on November 2 and, after a few days, he reported some symptoms that we call alarm: chest pain and traces of blood in coughs. The situation prompted us to intervene immediately, taking him to the emergency room, and then to the consequent hospitalization,“ the Italian club published and added that Kimerov is feeling fine at the moment.
