Osasco surprisingly easily dominated over Minas in a duel of the two undefeated sides in the 2020/21 Brazilian Women’s Superliga Banco do Brasil regular season: 3-1 (25-15, 25-16, 25-20). With a win in Round 6, the team from São Paulo remained undefeated (6-0) and got isolated at the top of the standings, while at the same time, Minas lost their invincibility (5-1).
The match was marked with tensions on the court, which is usual for derbies in Brazil. Minas head coach Nicola Negro got a yellow and a red card in the second set for complaining to the referees’ decisions, while at the end of the match, the Italian expert got confronted with Osasco head coach Luizomar Moura and was dragged away by his staff when it seemed it might turn into a physical clash.
Tandara Caixeta top-scored Osasco with 16 points. Ana Beatriz Corrêa ‘Bia’ added 6 blocks. Priscila Daroit ‘Pri Daroit’ scored 11 points for Minas.
