CS Arcada Galați conquered the Romanian Men’s Volleyball Championship for the first time ever.

CS Arcada Galați became the Romanian Men’s Volleyball champions for the first time in the club history. By defeating CSA Steaua București by a 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-17) in Round 10, the last round of the Top 6 in the 2018/19 Campionatul National Divizia A1 masculin, CS Arcada Galați secured the national title.

Since there are no playoffs in the Romanian top division, CS Arcada Galați kept a two-point advantage in the standings compared to the second-placed ACS Volei Municipal Zalău (71-69), who also achieved a win (3-1 vs. CS Dinamo București) in the last round.

CS Arcada Galați were close to winning the title last season but finished the second-placed at the end of the regular season, only one point behind Tricolorul LMV Ploiești who became champions and then withdrew from participating in the 2018/19 Romanian top-flight due to financial difficulties.

Croatian Ivan Raić top-scored for CS Arcada Galați in the match after which they claimed the championship with 17 points. The Puerto Rican libero Arnel Cabrera made 85% positive reception (13 digs, 1 error, 31% excellent).

2018/19 Campionatul National Divizia A1 masculin – Round 10 (last round of Top 6):

CSA Steaua București - CS Arcada Galați 0-3 (19-25, 16-25, 17-25)

SCM “U” Craiova – CSM București 3-0 (25-8, 25-16, 25-18)

ACS Volei Municipal Zalău - CS Dinamo București 3-1 (25-16, 29-31, 25-18, 25-19)

FRA M: Ngapeth has a question for the FIVB

Organisation of OG Qualification in Poland reminds me WCh2014 as far as a timetable, referees.. It is enough to compare all schedules of home NT with other qualification groups.. Poland NT is probably currently the strongest NT in men volleyball in the world, and it does not need any such a trick... Of course, it indicates also the role of FIVB, which is orientated mainly on a profit... Reply

FRA M: Ngapeth has a question for the FIVB

um...did he protest as loudly during Italian tournaments in the past? really, if Poland was playing this tournament in France, we would have as unreasonable schedule as they had and, we too, would complain, but what does it matter? FIVB accepted the schedule, so Ngapeth can only blame his own federation for not fighting for this tournament's organization rights more. Reply
