Striving for the win can make athletes nervous in every sport, including volleyball. But, there are no excuses for being disrespectful to your teammate regardless of how important the match or a rally is.

The Montenegrin international Danijela Džaković slammed her teammate during the match in the 2019 Philippine Premier Volleyball League, a few days ago, and the video instantly became viral. Džaković hit libero Jewelle Bermillo in the face as these two players from the team named BaliPure Purest Water Defenders went for a dig in the same time and let the ball fall down, giving the point to their rivals Creamline Cool Smashers.

After being hit in the head by her teammate, Bermillo started to cry and ultimately got a hug and apology from Džaković when the Montenegrin player realized how reckless she was.

The League decided not to punish Džaković but the outside hitter has left the Philippines and returned to Montenegro today. It is not known if she will return to compete for BaliPure or not.

I suspect that will be the last time she will play pro ball again. Volleyball is a team sport. She was interfered with but should have hit that ball better. She blames her libero and smacks her on her head is assault. She should have been arrested and fined. Her team might have dismissed her after the game since she went home.
