A longtime Poland Women’s Volleyball national team member, Katarzyna Skorupa, reveals in an interview for the website in her home country that she is a lesbian and that she feels discriminated because of her sexual orientation!

A photo of the kiss between Katarzyna Skorupa and Paola Egonu that was taken by the Italian media in late 2018 gave the answer on who is Egonu’s female partner after the Italian prospect came out as a lesbian. The couple broke up in the meantime but a current player of Èpiù Pomì Casalmaggiore in Italy Skorupa revealed in an interview to Wprost that she was aware of how much controversy the photo of her kissing another girl would cause. On the question of why she did not come out as lesbian earlier, Skorupa answered that she was never asked to but also that she never kept this as a secret because she had other partners before Egonu.

One time Polish, Azerbaijani and Italian championship winner emphasized that she has always felt discriminated for being a lesbian and that homosexuality is an uncomfortable topic in Poland:

„I felt discriminated and today, there are situations when I still feel that way."

Skorupa confirmed that she is not the only lesbian volleyball player in Poland but that the others are afraid to come out because they would bear consequences for that.

What consequences, she was asked?

„Financial and image losses due to the withdrawal of the sponsor which would eventually leave you without the club. They would find a way to do that. I know people who can’t speak about their homosexuality because they are afraid of losing their place in their national teams. There’s volleyball agent who announced that he would prepare a list of lesbians and bisexuals. I asked for what purpose?! It’s a pathology,“ Skorupa added.

It's still sad to see people can't come out and love who they want to love.

This is just the proof how long are promises honored in professional volleyball. Last year Lube said that Stankovic, belowed El Capetano, will be coming back next year when he obtain Italian citizenship, he's been with Lube for 10 years, and we want him back. Reply

RUS W: Karpol enters Guinness World Records!

Watching Nikolay Karpol and Yevgeni Trefilov (handball, head coach of the Russia women's national team) during the timeouts always made me feel sorry for these girls and was amusing at the same time. They both created the stereotypical image of a typical Russian coach – a big guy, always unsatisfied and yelling at everyone :) Still they both achieved a lot and it cannot be denied. Reply
