POL M: ZAKSA beat Skra in big derby after 5-set battle, get to 11-0

Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle prevailed over PGE Skra Bełchatów in the big derby of the 2020/21 Polish Men’s Volleyball Championship.

The clash of Round 16 of the 2020/21 Polish Men’s PlusLiga regular season between the home team of ZAKSA and Skra promised a great battle in theory and so it was in reality.

After so many twists and turns, which resulted in five sets, the champions won. Partially, it was 22-25, 25-23, 25-13, 26-28, and 15-7. Thus, ZAKSA prevailed over Skra for the second time this season. These two will meet again in just a few days in the match valid for the first round of Pool A in the CEV Champions League.

Today, Aleksander Śliwka top-scored ZAKSA, who are at 11-0, with 25 points. Iranian Milad Ebadipour put down 17 points for Skra, while Mateusz Bieniek made 4 blocks.

VERVA Warszawa ORLEN Paliwa narrowly avoided an upset against the second-to-last Stal Nysa (3-2). Belgian Igor Grobelny highlighted the team from the Polish capital (fourth win in a row) with 23 points. Andrzej Wrona set up 5 blocks.
