Russia will be highly weakened in the Qualifying tournament for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Kaliningrad as it will be deprived of help from a 30-year-old outside hitter Kosheleva.

“Tanya Kosheleva won’t play in the qualifying tournament for the Olympics. Tanya decided not to play for the national team, for now, so we’ll fight at this tournament without her. Perhaps she’ll play the European Championship this year, we haven’t yet come to a decision. Tanya is still worried about her leg injury, now she’s recovering. We hope that she’ll soon recover and will be with us in the national team,“ Pankov said for RIA Novosti.

On the other hand, another major star of “Zbornaya“, Nataliya Goncharova, has returned to the national team after nearly a year.

Russia will play the Qualifying tournament for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games at home in Kaliningrad, on August 2-4. Their rivals in the pool will be national teams of South Korea, Canada and Mexico. Only the pool winners will book a ticket to the Olympics.
