Two Dinamos will play for the gold medal in the 2019 Russian Women’s Volleyball Cup, whose Final 4 is held in Kazan.

Looking at the charts of the Russian Championship regular season, outcomes of both semifinals of the Russian Cup are surprising. However, the current form of all Final 4 participants shows that these outcomes aren’t surprising.

Dinamo-Kazan, third-placed in the Superliga standings but with a 5-game winning streak in the competition, eliminated leaders Lokomotiv by a 3-1 (25-22, 15-25, 25-20, 25-20). Croatian Samanta Fabris top-scored for the winning side with 28 points, while Cuban Ana Cleger chipped in with 29 points for Lokomotiv. This was Dinamo-Kazan’s second successive victory over the side from Kaliningrad in only three days (3-1 in the league).

Led by Darya Stolyarova and Czech Helena Havelková (15 points apiece), Dinamo Moscow (fifth-placed in Superliga but with 5-game winning streak) knocked out vice-leaders Uralochka-NTMK. Thus, the team from the Russian capital will have the chance to defend the trophy. Kseniya Parubets tallied 22 points for the losing side. Interestingly, these two have already faced on 4 occassions since the beginning of the season. Apart from today, Dinamo Moscow prevailed in the championship, 3 days ago, as well as in the CEV Champions League, a month ago. Uralochka won a duel in the championship, on October 19.
