RUS M: Weakened Zenit-Kazan prevail over Belogorie in one of biggest European ’classics’

A true classic of the Russian but also European men’s volleyball - the two sides won nine CEV Champions League titles combined - between Belogorie and Zenit-Kazan went into the favor of the latter.

Zenit-Kazan and Belogorie are about to face each other twice in just two days in the 2020/21 Superliga Parimatch regular season for men. In the first of these ’classics’, valid for Round 9, as expected, the team from the Tatarstan region prevailed in four sets despite playing without two starters – Valentin Golubev and Frenchman Earvin Ngapeth. Partially, it was 25-22, 25-19, 19-25, 25-22.

Maksim Mikhaylov top-scored the winning side, who are still undefeated (9-0) with 20 points. Artem Volvich set up 4 blocks. Aleksey Samoylenko and Italian Gabriele Nelli scored 16 points each for Belogorie (1-4) with the former making 5 blocks and 73 % attack (11/15). Tomorrow’s encounter between these two teams will be valid for Round 22.

With a win over Neftyanik of 3-0, Zenit Saint Petersburg (Viktor Poletaev 14 points) went up to third place in the charts.
