Sarmayeh, led by Iranian National Team members Seyed Mousavi, Milad Ebadipour, Shahram Mahmoudi and Farhad Ghaemi in line-up, kept their unbeaten record in the tournament all the way. They downed Japanese silver medalists Trefuerza in straight sets but the opening set was one of the best-ever in volleyball 39-37, 25-14, 25-23.

Thus, Sarmayeh won back-to-back title in Asia in their sixth participation and became the fourth Iranian team to grab the gold medal. It was the 12th overall gold for clubs from this country in the continental club championship.

By grabbing the trophy in Vietnam, Sarmayeh qualified for the 2018 FIVB Club World Championship.

Al Arabi SC Doha from Qatar won bronze as they beat Kazakh side Altay VC 3-1 (22-25, 25-13, 25-20, 25-19).
