The semifinal game at the 2016 Rio Olympics was ended with the defeat of defending champions Russia. Brazil will fight for gold medal in front of their fans in the „Maracanãzinho“. Russia’s head coach Vladimir Alekno was understandably dissatisfied after the match.

„After London (Olympics), after the European Championship, we have never beat a strong team. Our volleyball stopped for some reason. We have to figure it out, why we can no longer beat a strong team. They did not let us play the way we wanted,“ said Alekno.

„The attitude of referees in this match was biased towards us, but why to talk about it now? It will not change anything,“ Russia’s head coach added.
