RIO 2016 W: The bronze belongs to the USA!

The USA defeated Netherlands in the bronze medal match at the Rio 2016 women’s volleyball tournament.

They failed to take the gold, but they did win a medal. The bronze belongs to the USA! After winning two consecutive silvers at the Olympic tournaments, the Americans defeated Netherlands in the 3rd place match at Rio 2016 and continued with collecting medals at the most important volleyball tournaments.

The USA now have 3 silvers and 2 bronze medals from the Olympic Games.

On the other side, the Netherlands failed to win their 1st Olympic medal. Despite having a great tournament, the Orange squad lost the two most important matches, so they finished the tournament at the 4th place.

Netherlands – USA 1:3 (23:25, 27:25, 22:25, 19:25)  

Netherlands: Sloetjes 15, Buijs 15, Plak 11, De Kruijf 11, Pietersen 9, Belien 5, Dijkema 2, Steenbergen 1, Stoltenborg, Balkenstein-Grothues, Schoot, Stam-Pilon.

USA: Hill 19, Akinradewo 16, Adams 15, Larson-Burbach 15, Murphy 7, Lowe 5, Glass 2, Banwarth, Thompson, Lloyd, Harmotto Dietzen, Robinson.
