With just days to go before the 2025 FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship, Serbia sent a clear message: they’re ready to defend their title. The reigning champions completed a flawless run at a preparation tournament in Shenzhen, China, finishing with three wins in as many matches.
Serbia opened the event against Bulgaria, where captain Tijana Bošković stole the show with 25 points to secure a 3-1 victory. A day later, rising outside hitter Aleksandra Uzelac stepped into the spotlight, firing 21 points as the team overcame Canada in four sets.
The final test came against the Netherlands, and Serbia rose to the occasion. Uzelac led the way once again with 22 points, supported by Bošković’s 16, as the team swept the Dutch 3-0 to close the tournament in style.
Behind them, the Netherlands settled for second place, Bulgaria took third after edging Canada, while the North Americans finished fourth.
Serbia now heads to Thailand brimming with confidence. Drawn into Pool H, they will face Ukraine, Cameroon, and Japan in the opening round, starting their campaign on August 23 in Bangkok.
