Serbia finished as Pool K leaders and will play in the semifinal of the 2016 FIVB World League Final Six against the second placed team in Pool J. They suffered a 3-2 defeat against France in the last round, which did not cause them severe damage but helped “Team Yavbou” to go to the semis.

Despite the fact the match was not so important to them, Serbia had huge desire to win. The words of their setter Nikola Jovović, said to our reporter, confirm the claim.

“In the first two sets, they served amazingly. I really can’t figure out how they managed to make so few mistakes from serving. But later they failed in that segment and we made a breakthrough, leveled at 2-2 and reached the tie-break which is always a lottery. There, they beat us by two balls. Referees missed to call one ball as long touch to their setter. It is something that is called even in junior leagues. Today, we saw 5-6 or even more referee’s mistakes that damaged us. We finished as pool leaders, which was our goal. Now, we wait to see which team will be our opponent and everything will be possible in the semifinal,” Jovović said.
