The first team to secure place in the knockout stage is Poland!

Poland vs. Argentina

Poland vs. Argentina

Poland defeated Argentina in straight sets, but do not think for a single second that the red and whites had an easy job this Thursday. The match was very close… Even before that spectacular 3rd set…

That 3rd set lasted for 38 minutes (!!!), while Argentina missed huge chance to extend this game. The boys in white and blue jerseys missed 7 set points and, at the end, they got punished. The hero of the match was Bartosz Kurek who made a great save in the final rally, while after that he finished the match with a block-out point.

Poland have therefore qualified for the quarterfinals at the Rio 2016 volleyball tournament. Argentina are very close to do the same regardless of this defeat.

Poland – Argentina 3:0 (25:21, 25:19, 37:35)

Poland: Nowakowski, Konarski 1, Kurek 12, Klos 14, Drzyzga, Lomacz 2, Kubiak 10, Zatorski, Mika 9, Buszek 6, Bednorz, Bieniek 10.

Argentina: Bruno4, Ramos, Poglajen 6, Conte 13, D. Gonzalez, J. Gonzalez 13, Sole 8, Lima 4, Palacios 1, Crer 3, De Cecco, A. Gonzalez.

Group B: Poland 3-0 (8 points), Russia 2-1 (6 points), Argentina 2-1 (6 points), Iran 1-2 (4 points). Egypt 1-2 (3 points), Cuba 0-3 (0 points).
