The CEV will request that the champions of Europe have a direct ticket to the Olympics, as the President of the Russian Volleyball Federation and vice-President of the CEV, Stanislav Shevchenko, said for “R-Sport”.

Currently, European teams can qualify for the Olympic Games through the World Cup, European or world qualification tournaments.

Shevchenko said that members of European federations expressed unanimous opinion that it is necessary to change current system. Thus, he confirmed what the President of the CEV, Aleksandar Boričić, stated, exclusively for WorldofVolley, on this matter. It is still unclear will CEV ask FIVB that European champions from 2017 or 2019 should have a straight pass to the Olympics.

Shevchenko added that there was a very interesting discussion on the reform of the Champions League, but it is not finished yet.
