Due to state sponsored doping program, all Russian athletes might be banned from participating in the most important sporting event in 2016 – the Olympic Games in Rio.
Tatyana Kosheleva, star player of Russia Women’s National Team, feels bitter with the recent negative campaign that is led against the sport in her country.
„I find it difficult to understand where does such an attitude, such a hate for Russia and the Russian sports comes from. Sport, in my understanding, it’s about a completely different emotions. I agree that the sport should be clean. But you should only punish those who are guilty. And these people, in my opinion, have already been punished. I don’t understand, where are all the other athletes. Apparently, they are effected by the political situation. They have an opportunity to ’pinch’ Russia. But we have strong character, strength of will. I wish us to endure, resist and not succumb to these provocations,“ Kosheleva said to „R-Sport“.
Do you and your teammates think of the possibility to be expelled from the Olympics?
„We try not to think about it, we train and do what we’re supposed to do. If we plunge into all this dirt around our sport, of course, our mood and strength would fall. We don’t need that. God will help our Olympic team not to be expelled from the Olympics. I believe in the best. On the other end, Russian Women’s National Volleyball Team is preparing for the Olympics, we have earned the ticket to Rio with our work. We are honest. Everything else will be on the conscience of others,“ she added.
