So many amazing rallies, so many spectacular points. It is really shame that one of these two teams had to lose today.
The Netherlands were twice in the lead against the USA, however the squad coach by Karch Kiraly showed why are they the reigning Olympic vice-champions. After tying the score firstly at 1-1 and then at 2-2 in sets, the American crew were superior in the tie-break.
Two teams were all tied at 3:3 in the 5th and decisive set, but then the USA made the crucial margin, as they escaped to 9:4! The Americans are simply too good to drop that lead, so they closed the match by 15:8.
Kelly Murphy scored 18 points for USA, while Foluke Akinradewo and Jordan Larson added 15 each. In the Dutch team, Lonneke Sloetjes made 21 points, Robin de Kruijf finished the match with 14.
