The regular season in Russia is over. Tell us your impression?

“I have positive impressions so far. I came here to play in the strongest league in the world and to play against the best players. From that point of view, all my expectations are fulfilled. Unfortunately, I personally have not been able to stand out and play the way I would like it. As you know, the injury prevented me. I missed more than half of the season. Honestly, I’m tired of spending time with doctors. I think that the club would also like to see me playing rather than to watch out of court

What’s the main problem with your injury? Does someone do something wrong?

I have no luck. I came to the World Championship with an injury and not managed to make fully recovery. I hurried, wanted to play for Dinamo as soon as possible. I hope that my nightmare will be ended soon.”

The economic situation is getting worse among volleyball teams. Do you worry about it?

“No. Of course, the economy is not the best in a previous period but Russia is a strong country and I’m sure that will survive difficult time and soon everything will be better. I understand that your question is an implication regarding my contract with the club. But, everything is fine with Dinamo.

Did you have any problems with settling down in Russia?

No. My Russian roots helped me a lot! Of course, this is not Europe, the things are going on a different way. But, after a while you are get used to everything. It’s not a big deal, really.”

Is your family with you?

They are with me in Rome. I hope that they will be back to Moscow soon to support me in playoffs.”

Soon, Dinamo will meet Turkish Fenerbahce, a team where the famous Serbian opposite Ivan Miljković plays. What do you expect from this clash?

I watched a few matches of Fenerbahce in CEV Champions league. I also know that about a month ago Miljković picked up a back injury. Turkish team also has a few quality players and the battle will be very uncertain. We need to think about our playing style. Everything depends on us. But, we can win against anyone and we can lose as well. We need to trust each other.

At the end, we have to ask you one question. Italian newspaper “La Gazzetta dello Sport” writes about your return to Lube. What do you think about that?

I’ve been waiting for this question (laughs). I’m not going anywhere. Let me explain. This is usually the case – in late February agents start calling, there, here and what we get? We get a rumor, and then the rumor goes to the media. I’m used to it and I don’t pay attention. For me, the most important thing is to recover, to get on court and to prove myself! Dinamo is paying me and I have to pay them back with good performances” says Zaytsev in an interview for championat.com!
