After a year’s break, Lana Ščuka returned to the Polish club ŁKS Commercecon Łódź, with which she won the national championship in 2023. Her team is currently the leader of the national league and also competes in the CEV Cup. – I believe that we have a team that is able to repeat this and win the Polish championship again.
Lana Ščuka is the champion and double vice-champion of Slovenia. She also won the Slovenian Cup and triumphed in the Challenge Cup. With the Slovenian national team, she won the vice-championship of the European Junior Championship and the vice-championship of the U-23 World Championship. – I played in Italy and Turkey, but I also wanted to try in Poland. The country is known for good volleyball and a high level, so I am very excited about this challenge in my career – she said in 2022.
A few months later, she celebrated the Polish championship with ŁKS Commercecon Łódź. Today, she emphasizes: – Remembering that championship season is an incredible emotion for all of us in Łódź. I returned to the club precisely for moments like these. I’m counting on a similar scenario, i.e. the final success of ŁKS.
The Slovenian outide spiker does not hide the fact that two years ago Poland surprised her a bit in terms of weather. – It surprised me how beautiful it is during summer but in winter it’s really really dark (she laughs).
Playing in the Polish league is also an opportunity for Lana Ščuka to get to know new places. When friends come to visit her, she always takes them to Krakow. – My favorite city is Krakow, it is a must see. Lots of interesting shops, architecture, pastries. Lots of things to do! – she emphasizes.
The life of a professional volleyball player requires adapting to the training and match schedule. What does a typical day in the life of Lana Ščuka look like? – If I have two practices, I usually don’t do much, because I’m tired and need to rest for afternoon practice. But when I have time I like to visit the aquapark, go to the cinema or eat in some restaurant on Piotrkowska street – she recommends.
What does Lana expect from the 2024/2025 season? – I believe we can try to do great things. We have amazing fans and high goals to achieve. I hope we will write a great history of the club again – she ends.
