Slovenia’s national volleyball team has suffered a major setback ahead of the World Championship, which begins on September 12 in the Philippines. Star outside hitter Rok Možič will not take part due to a knee injury that has sidelined him since the Nations League finals in China.
The 23-year-old from Maribor had been undergoing therapy and training on a special program, hoping to recover in time, but medical checks confirmed the risk of playing would be too high.
“Sadly, the inflammation in my knee hasn’t healed enough. I truly hoped to be ready, but time wasn’t on my side,” Možič shared emotionally, expressing deep disappointment at missing the tournament he was eagerly awaiting.
The Slovenian squad is now heading to Osaka for final preparations before traveling to Manila, where they’ll start their World Championship campaign without one of their key players.
