After a short episode in Indonesia, the Serbian player have decided to join the Finnish team HKP! It’s going to be an interesting race in the national league of Finland.
Since this is your first ever season in Finland, are you satisfied with the club and league?
“HPK is really a professional club and I was impressed when I came here, everything was organized and they were all trying to help me adjust quickly on and off the court. The league is tough in a sense that top four or five teams are equal and you can see that if you take a look at the standings. Two rounds before the beginning of playoffs you still don’t know the matchups for sure,” says Aleksandra Terzic for WorldofVolley.
What are the ambitions of the club in this season?
“Club won the Cup before I came and next goal is of course to win the Championship. Practices are professional and tough, the atmosphere inside the team is really good and positive and we all push each other to get better every day so I hope we will reach the goal at the end of our journey.”
Are you pleased with your performances in 2017/2018 season?
“I started the season in Indonesia but now my legal case continues in FIVB and I cannot talk about it. My agent Tunc Afsar sent me an interesting offer from Finland and afterwards I signed with HPK. I played 2 games for the team, we won both, and that is the most important thing because we really needed those wins. My individual play was good knowing that those were my first official games this season and that I didn’t have so much time to get adjusted to the system and my new teammates, but I think it will be better and better each day we spend in the gym together, and I will give my maximum to help the team win.”
Do you have some plans for the next season?
“I try to focus just on the present and what I can do to help the team win right now. In the offseason, I have enough time to prepare my body and think about future challenges.”
Have you got used to life in Finland?
“Everything is ok, it’s a little bit colder than what I’m used to in last few seasons but that’s not a big problem. Hämeenlinna is a small but beautiful city, people are very kind and polite.”
How do you spend your free time there?
“Most of the time I spend resting my body from the practices and games but when we have full days off I try to visit as many places as I can and feel the true culture and lifestyle of the people in Finland.”
Except Serbia, you played in Russia, Turkey, Greece, Finland and Thailand – in which country would you like to come back and why?
“Definitely in Russia because I had a great time there, it was my best season personally and level of volleyball is very high.”
What is your message for the young volleyball players, who are preparing to join the world of professionals?
“They must believe in themselves, have faith in their abilities, be confident and devoted and never give up on their dreams,” finishes Aleksandra Terzic in style.
