She is aware that there is a difficult situation in the world but also Ruseva hopes the situation will end soon so she can return to volleyball.
How do you spend days during these difficult times?
“Because of the baby, my days are going pretty quickly, because the care around him is a lot and every day is different. The only thing I do for myself is to practice twice with my husband. We bought dumbbells and bars so we can train as we used to.”
What is the current situation in Bulgaria considering this COVID 19 coronavirus pandemic?
“Thanks to the quick reaction of the government, we have been able to keep things under control and so far, the victims are relatively low, as well as the number of people tested positive compared to the countries that at the same time had similar cases.”
How do you see volleyball after this pandemic?
“There is no way it will not be reflected on every sport including volleyball. I hope everyone who is involved in sports as well, we athletes all the fans who love volleyball, all who work for the teams, everyone gives their best so that everything can return as before.”
Many volleyball players are complaining about the situation since they are not able to have team practices. Are you expecting to get back to the arena soon?
“Oh, I miss it so much! That’s why I am not stopping with the practice because I hope to wake up one day and read the good news that it’s all over and we can return to the gym. We, the athletes, are experiencing it so bad, because we are used to spending a lot of energy every day for 4 hours with heavy practices and also for the matches, there we are spending so much adrenaline, emotions, mental and physical energy. Maybe everyone felt good at the beginning of pause because we are always separating from the families and we are unable to stay at home for a long time. We don’t have time to stop…to think, even to be lazy. Let’s end this hell...!”
How would you rate your season considering that you gave birth in 2019?
“I had set goals that I completed 100%. Three months after birth I was already jumping and playing volleyball, firstly with the national team than I helped Maritza Plovdiv in the CEV Champions League. I feel now stronger and recharged.”
Plans for the next season?
“I have big ambitions, but let’s end the pandemic first.”
What would be your message for the volleyball community at the moment?
“Of course, do not stop training, eat healthily, enjoy every moment with your loved ones! Every bad thing is for good and a reason! Together we will be able to deal with it! Stay at home and soon we will be free to live like before,” says Hristina Ruseva.
