USA ride team effort, put block on Argentina in five

The USA entered the final round of the 2011 FIVB Men’s World Cup with a 4-4 record, and on Friday managed to pick up their fifth win over a young Argentina squad at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, roaring back with great blocking after dropping a close first set to win 3-2 (27-29, 25-14, 25-17, 20-25, 15-12).

Five USA players reached double-digits in scoring, with Matthew Anderson leading the way with 25 points. Evan Patak and Russell Holmes helped their team to a 13-7 blocking advantage, with five and four block stuffs respectively. Leading the way for Argentina was their star Facundo Conte with 18 points, followed by Federico Pereyra with 17 points.
