Polina Rahimova’s glorious spectacle on the court finished with an amazing 39 points on her tally, 6 of which scored as aces. Simona Dimitrova was Bulgaria’s best scorer with 16 points.
Ivan Petkov, head coach of Bulgaria: “Our team had won the two games in Bulgaria, and won the first two sets today to stay competitive, but after the second set we were not able to go on in the same way. Azerbaijan’s team showed us a very decent game and therefore won.”
Polina Rahimova, player of Azerbaijan and best scorer of the match: “I am happy with our victory today, but I should note that our young players` mistakes were still obvious. After the second set the team managed to get together and showed a good game. Tomorrow we will be trying to do the same, taking into account that the most important for our team is not to be too relaxed. In such a case we will manage to win again.”
Azerbaijan and Bulgaria will finish their 2014 European League campaigns with another match tomorrow, Saturday, to be played at the AYS sports hall in Baku, starting at 18:00 local time.
