Bouchra Hajij is the new President of CAVB

Bouchra Hajij was elected president of the African Volleyball Confederation during the virtual CAVB Congress.

Bouchra Hajij was elected the fifth president of the CAVB (African Volleyball Confederation) at a congress held online from October 24 to 26, 2020, becoming the first woman to lead the CAVB.

Bouchra Hajij received 42 votes from 54 national federations, while outgoing President Dr. Amr Elwani, who has led the Continental Confederation since 2001, was supported by 12 national federations.

The new president of the CAVB, Dr. Bouchra Hajij, is a former player of the Moroccan women’s volleyball national team, the current executive vice president of the FIVB and the president of the Moroccan Volleyball Federation.

CAVB President Bouchra Hajij: “I am delighted to be able to lead the CAVB as we work together to grow and develop volleyball in the region. I am so grateful for the FIVB’s ongoing support, even during these challenging times, and I know that the future is bright for this incredible sport in Africa.”
