“I want to congratulate Argentina for the way they improved their game”, said Bruno Rezende, Brazilian captain. “They played different, they took risks from the serve and that worked, but we were better in closing the sets. We are taking home 6 very important points, and a great third set.”
On Saturday, Brazil earned 3-0 a victory ( 25-21, 27-25, 25-13), in a second set that proved to be vital.
“I think we did much better than yesterday, we pressured a lot with our serve and we played better, especially in the first two sets,” said Luciano De Cecco, home team captain. “We lacked of concentration in the main parts of the game.”
“The team was a lot better from yesterday,” said Bruno Romanutti, who scored 12 points. “We let go some important points, mainly in the second set, and that was the difference. We have to keep improving.”
“We did well digging and serving, but we must keep working in our focus in order to win these matches. We lost our temper on the final set,” said Argentina‘s Sebastián Solé.
“Argentina was a lot better tonight, with good changes, but us, also with new players and some modifications, managed to solve many tough situations despite Argentina’s pressure,” said Brazilian coach Bernardo Rezende.
Rezende also discussed Isac Santos‘ injury during the match when he broke one of his right hand fingers.
“I’m worried about him for the next games,” he said.
Meanwhile, local coach Javier Weber expressed: “Even though we played with two different setters along the game, the team worked well, so that means we need to be better in attack. But, above all things, we must have stronger minds. If not, we won’t be able to keep up this pace. It’s a problem we already had last year.”
