We didn’t have a good start but recovered from the second set on and got the victory”, Peru’s coach Edwin Jimenez stated. “Argentina is always a tough rival. This is a long tournament and is good to start with the right foot.

We are very sad because we made too many errors after a good start”, Argentina’s Horacio Bastit said. “Peru is a tough rival and they have been playing with a stable team. They established a fast pace and we didn’t execute our serves as good as we did in the first set.

We have a great deal of respect for Argentina and we knew it was going to be a difficult match”, Peruvian Vanessa Palacios said. “We are very glad for the victory and the good start.

We played a good first set but then committed to many mistakes”, Argentinean Emilce Sosa commented. “It is a long tournament and we hope to improve.
