Conte scored 21 points as Argentina stunned Iran in straight sets 3-0 (25-23, 26-24, 25-18). But, it was not an easy victory for Velasco’s side.
After two sets, the result could have been different but fortunately for Argentina’s fans, they had 2-0 lead. These first two sets were very uncertain, but Iran, who made their debut at the Olympic Games, didn’t manage to win any of these two sets.
In the third set, Argentina kept playing like in the previous sets and they earned the first victory in Rio.
The top scorer in Iran was middle blocker Seyed Mousavi with 10 points.
