AVC W: Vietnam Secures Championship Title in 2023 AVC Challenge Cup with Thrilling Victory Over Indonesia

Vietnam emerged as the champions of the 2023 AVC Challenge Cup for Women in a nail-biting showdown against hosts Indonesia. The match, held at East Java’s Tri Dharma Petrokimia Gresik Gymnasium, ended with a scoreline of 3-2 (25-18, 25-27, 21-25, 25-20, 15-13) in Vietnam’s favor.

As the triumphant team in Sunday’s gripping finale, Vietnam has earned a direct qualification for the FIVB Challenger Cup, set to take place from July 27 to 30, 2023. The FIVB Challenger Cup serves as a qualifying tournament for the 2024 edition of the Volleyball Nations League.

Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, the captain of Vietnam, played a pivotal role in the team’s victory and was honored as the Most Valuable Player of the championship. With an impressive tally of 23 points, Thuy showcased her exceptional skills and ability to deliver crucial plays when it mattered the most.

In an earlier match, Chinese Taipei secured the third-place position by defeating India with a commanding 3-0 victory (25-13, 25-15, 25-18). The Chinese Taipei team displayed remarkable speed in transition and accuracy in their attacks. Chen Tzu-Ya, Chang Li-Wen, Hung Shih-Han, and Wu Fang-Yu contributed double-digit markers, contributing to their team’s bronze medal win.
