Day 2 Highlights: Six Matches Played at 22nd Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship

Day 2 of the 22nd Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship saw nail-biting action as Korea, China, Australia, Kazakhstan, India, and Vietnam secured wins in their respective matches. The competition unfolded at Chartchai Hall, where all eyes were set on the top teams battling it out to advance to the next stage.

Korea redeemed themselves following their surprising initial loss to Vietnam, clinching a tie-break win over a steadfast Chinese Taipei. Outside hitter Kang Sohwi shined with a match-high 25 points for Korea, while Chang Li-Wen contributed 19 points in Chinese Taipei’s loss.

China continued their strong showing, cruising to a 3-0 victory against the Philippines in a preliminary Pool D match. Wu Mengjie was the star performer for China with 18 points, supported by teammates Zhong Hui and Yang Hanyu who added 10 points each. Alyssa Solomon was the highest scorer for the Philippines with 13 points.

Australia rebounded from their day one loss to Thailand, overpowering Mongolia in straight sets. Beth Carey led the Australian team with 16 points, while teammates Stefanie Weiler and Emma Burton added 14 and 10 points respectively. Gan-Ochir Khongorzul was Mongolia’s top scorer with 9 points.

In other matches, Kazakhstan dominated Hong Kong with a 3-0 win, India overcame Iran 3-1, and Vietnam easily defeated Uzbekistan 3-0. The final day of the Pool stage is set for tomorrow, and it promises more thrilling encounters as teams vie for a spot in the next round.
