Nebraska Volleyball Sets New World Record for Women’s Sporting Event Attendance

by WoV

On Wednesday night, a historic event took place at the Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. The University of Nebraska women’s volleyball team played against in-state opponent Omaha and set a new world record for the highest attendance at a women’s sporting event, with an official count of 92,003 spectators. This achievement broke the previous record set in April 2022 at Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain, where 91,648 football fans attended a UEFA Champions League semifinal match between Barcelona and Wolfsburg.

The highly anticipated match was part of the “Volleyball Day in Nebraska”. The Nebraska volleyball team, which has won the national championship five times, did not disappoint the record-breaking crowd. They secured a 3-0 victory over Omaha with set scores of 25-14, 25-14, 25-13.
