Thailand secured a decisive victory over Korea in a closely contested three-set match, winning 25-20, 25-22, 25-23. This triumph wasn’t just a one-time achievement; it marked the second occasion Thailand overcame Korea in straight sets this year. The first win was during their Pool 1, Week 1 match in the 2023 Volleyball Nations League held in Antalya, Turkey on June 4. The victory also served as a satisfying redemption for Thailand, who had suffered a 1-3 defeat to Korea in the second-round Pool E of the 20th Asian Championship in 2019.

On the other side of Pool E, Vietnam made short work of Australia, winning the match in straight sets with scores of 25-15, 25-15, 25-21.

The outcomes of these matches have set a compelling stage for the unfolding championship and raised expectations for both Thailand and Vietnam as they continue their journey towards the title.

Pool E Results

  • Thailand vs. Korea: 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-23)
  • Vietnam vs. Australia: 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-21)
