Carlos Schwanke, former assistant coach to Renan Dal Zotto on the Brazilian national volleyball team, in an interview for Brazilian media dispelled rumors of tension within the squad following his recent departure. He insists his exit was pre-planned and primarily due to fatigue from a hectic schedule.

Schwanke had been leading the team in the Pan-American Cup just before his departure and stated that his exit was already in the pipeline even prior to Brazil’s South American Championship loss to Argentina. Despite speculations of discord between him and key figures in the team, Schwanke denies any issues.

“I have great relationships with everyone on the team. There is no bad blood, just the demands of the job,” he said. He added that his primary focus will now be on his responsibilities with São José dos Campos.

Schwanke joined the national team in 2019 and had played a key role in their Nations League title in 2021. Tired from constant traveling and juggling roles, he feels it’s time to refocus on São José.

He also confirmed that Renan Dal Zotto was understanding of his decision to step back due to his packed schedule. “We had a straightforward conversation, and he understood my reasons,” Schwanke said.

Despite his exit, Schwanke is optimistic about the team’s prospects in the upcoming Pre-Olympics. “I have full faith in the team. Setbacks like these are just stepping stones to work harder,” he concluded.
