No.3 Foton (7-1, 20 points) downed No.6 Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors (3-5, 9 points) in the playoff quarterfinals at the Filoil Flying V Centre, San Juan, by a 3-1 (21-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-17). Thus, the reigning champions will meet No.2 Petron Blaze Spikers (7-1, 21 points) in the semis, on December 9.
The Serbian import Sara Klisura, nicknamed ‘Kill-sura’ by media in the Philippines, notched 23 points for Foton, while Alyja “Jaja” Santiago added 21 points. As for Sta. Lucia, the Ukrainian Bohdana Anisova delivered 21 points.
The fifth-seed Cocolife Asset Managers (3-5, 10 points) completed the semifinal bracket as they swept fourth-seed Cignal HD Spikers (4-4, 13 points). Cignal suffered an additional blow today as one of their key players, Jannine Marciano, was stretchered off the court in the third set due to an awkward landing, holding on to her left knee.
In the semis, on December 9, Cocolife will face top seed F2 Logistics Cargo Movers (7-1, 22 points).
