Two-time defending champions Sarmayeh Bank, who entered the playoffs as No.1 eliminated fifth-seed Paykan Tehran by a 2-0 in the semifinal series, winning Game 2 on the road by a 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-19, 29-27). The stake was big hence the tensions on the court. The umpire was forced to show two red cards, both to Iran national team members: Farhad Nazari Afshar (Paykan) and Seyed Mousavi (Sarmayeh). The head coach of the country’s men’s national team Igor Kolaković came to watch the game which was attended by 1,000 spectators.
Khatam Ardakan will be Sarmayeh’s opponents in the best-of-three finals. They qualified for the playoffs as No.7, kicking out No.3 Shahrdari Tabriz in the semis by a 2-0 in the series. Ardakan prevailed in Game 2 at home by a 3-1 (18-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-19). In the quarterfinals, they ejected No.2 Saipa Tehran.
The 2017/18 Premier League final series will begin on Wednesday, March 16th, with Sarmayeh having a home-court advantage.
