China men’s league: Shanghai and Beijing one win from playoff finals

Shanghai and Beijing got a 2-0 lead in the 2017-2018 Chinese men’s volleyball Super League playoff semifinals.

Shanghai and Beijing are close to advancing in the Super League playoff finals as they both won Game 2 of the best-of-five semifinal series.

No.1 Shanghai beat No.4 Sichuan with another straight-set win. Game 2 ended with 28-26, 25-23, 25-18. The Argentinean Facundo Conte topped Shanghai with 14 points. Sichuan could not count on import from Cuba, Leonardo Leyva, who got injured in Game 1.

No.2 Beijing struggled against No.3 Bayi in Game 2 as well. After prevailing by a 3-1 in Game 1, the second game delivered even more intense encounter, which the team from the Chinese capital claimed by a 3-2. Jiang Chuan pushed Beijing to the triumph by pouring in 21 points.

Game 3 of both playoff semifinals will be played on March 18.
