In front of the packed stands at their Luwan gymnasium (nearly 3,000 spectators), the top-seed Shanghai outplayed No.2 Beijing in the super-exciting Game 1 of the 2017-2018 Super League finals, which lasted for two hours and 26 minutes, 3-2 (25-19, 18-25, 23-25, 27-25, 15-8).

The Argentine Facundo Conte topped Shanghai with 16 points, while Zhang Zhejia made 7 kill blocks! The Frenchman Kévin Tillie poured in 21 points in Beijing, for which the Pole Michał Kubiak did not make his debut upon arriving from the Japanese titleholders Panasonic Panthers.

Game 2 of the best-of-seven finals is scheduled for April 5.
