In the first of possible five battles for the Superliga Cimed 2018-2019 championship title (a series that long occurred last time more than a decade ago), the hosts SESI achieved a straight-set win against Taubaté with all three sets ending by a 25-22 for SESI.
The heat at the Vila Leopoldina hall, where the match was held, was so high that a two-time Olympic champion Jaqueline Carvalho fainted while giving a live interview in the pause between the second and third set! She received medical help on the court as her blood pressure dropped and was then taken to a hospital, the Brazilian media reported. Jaqueline came to the venue to root for her husband Murilo Endres, playing as a libero for SESI.

Speaking of Olympic champions, SESI had four of them on the court today (William, Murilo, Lipe, and Éder) but the contribution of neither of them could measure with the contribution of Alan Souza who scored 14 points. Argentinean Facundo Conte noted 11 points for Taubaté while Thales Hoss made 78% positive reception (18 total, 67% excellent).
