Sesc RJ prevailed over Osasco/Audax in the biggest classic of the Brazilian Women’s Volleyball Championship.

Despite having to play without their best player Tandara Caixeta (abdominal pain), Sesc beat Osasco in a hot duel of the most-titled female Brazilian clubs (17 championships combined) by a 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-20, 25-23) in Round 17 of the 2019/20 Superliga Feminina regular season. The 8th win in a row for the team coached by Bernardinho came on a night marked by a lot of nervousness and complaints, especially from the losing side, which resulted in 2 red cards for them (Ana Beatriz Corrêa “Bia” and head coach Luizomar Moura). Sesc outside hitter Amanda Francisco was the highlight of the match, scoring 18 points. Juciely Silva made 7 kill blocks. Mara Leão delivered 15 points for Osasco. Sesc moved up by one position (from 3rd to 2nd), while Osasco remained 4th and now with, practically, no chance of improving their ranking until the end of the regular season.

The leaders Dentil/Praia Clube rounded up the number of successive victories to 10 after sweeping São Paulo FC/Barueri, leaving them at single digits in the first set.

The champions Itambé/Minas recorded 6th win in a row and came in 3rd.
