CHALLENGE CUP M: Sporting becomes first team to qualify for quarterfinals

Sporting Club Lisboa became the first team to qualify for the quarterfinals of the 2020 CEV Men’s Volleyball Challenge Cup.

Sporting Club Lisboa were defeated at home by the Czech side Kladno Volejbal cz in the tie-break, but thanks to the 3-0 triumph in the first leg, the team from the Portuguese capital is heading to the quarterfinals of the 2020 Challenge Cup. The encounter lost its significance from the moment Sporting got a 2-1 lead in sets.

Serbian Stefan Okošanović topped Kladno with 31 points. Tomáš Hýský had 82% attack (9/11), while Serbian Miloš Vemić made 80% reception (35 digs, 57% excellent). In Sporting, legendary Cuban Ángel Dennis scored 20 points. Brazilian Thiago Sens made 87% reception (23 digs, 61% excellent).

In the next round, the Portuguese team will face the winner of a duel between BDO Volley Haasrode Leuven (Belgium) and Pénzügyőr Budapest (Hungary). The latter prevailed in the first leg by a 3-1.
