CEV Board of Administration has officially announced the five clubs awarded coveted wildcards for the 2026 CEV Champions League Volley.
Following a meticulous review of 17 strong applications, three men’s and two women’s clubs will now join the sport’s elite in the upcoming edition. The men’s wildcards were granted to Halkbank ANKARA (Turkey), Asseco Resovia RZESZOW (Poland), and Montpellier HSC VB (France). On the women’s side, Zeren Sports Club ANKARA (Turkey) and Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA (Italy) secured the remaining two spots.
The wildcard system, recently reintroduced to help revamp the competition’s appeal and competitiveness, took into account marketability, fan engagement, and strategic growth potential. “This isn’t just about strong teams—it’s about vibrant markets and future-proofing the game,” a CEV spokesperson noted.
All five clubs will enter the fray from the 4th Round of the Champions League, stepping into the shoes left by Russian clubs, which continue to be ineligible due to ongoing sanctions.
