BRA M: Cruzeiro prevail in big match vs. Sesc, recording 15th win in a row

In the big match of Round 18 of the 2019/20 Brazilian Men’s Volleyball Championship regular season, Sada Cruzeiro beat Sesc-RJ to stay at the top of the charts.



In a balanced confrontation valid for Round 18 of the 2019/20 Superliga Masculina regular season, the South American champions Cruzeiro beat Sesc on the road by a 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 25-19). With the 15th win in a row overall (11th in a row in the championship) the Minas Gerais team continued its leadership with 47 points (16-1). The side from Rio de Janeiro remained third-placed with 38 points (13-5) but now with only theoretical chances of finishing first in the regular season. Wallace Souza from Sesc was the highest scorer of the match with 19 points, including 6 aces. Luan Weber and Canadian John Gordon Perrin tallied 13 points apiece for Cruzeiro with the latter making 93% reception (15 digs, 33% excellent).

By beating Vôlei Renata in four sets (seventh successive Superliga win), the champions EMS Taubaté Funvic kept chasing Cruzeiro for the No.1. Taubaté also have 47 points but a weaker win-loss ratio (15-3).
