With a powerful team block, Itambé Minas defeated Osasco/Audax in a derby of the 21st round of the 2019/20 Brazilian Women’s Volleyball Championship regular season.

In total, the titleholders Minas scored 21 points from the block against Osasco in a derby of the 21st round of the 2019/20 Superliga Feminina regular season, still keeping chances of winning the top spot in the charts: 3-1 (25-20, 14-25, 25-14, 25-23). Minas’ victorious series went on: now they have nine games in a row without a defeat, 13 in a row including all competitions.

Osasco couldn’t count on Jaqueline Endres “Jaque“ (shoulder injury) today. Out of 21 kill blocks, 11 were made by Thaísa Menezes (top scorer with 21 points) and another seven by Caroline Gattaz “Carol Gattaz“. Serbian Ana Bjelica scored 19 points for Osasco, while Ellen Braga made 82% reception (22 digs, 27% excellent).

With the success, Minas reached 54 points and remained vice-leaders. Thanks to the 13th successive victory, Dentil/Praia Clube maintained their lead in the standings with two points more than Minas ahead of the last two rounds. On the other hand, Osasco lost the fourth position: it was overtaken by Sesi Vôlei Bauru, who beat Valinhos (3-0) and reached 39 points, one point more than Osasco.

The only dilemma regarding the playoff composition is who will claim the No.8. After beating Fluminense F.C. (3-0), and also thanks to a defeat of Esporte Clube Pinheiros against São Paulo FC/Barueri of 3-1, Curitiba Vôlei are the closest to taking the only vacant spot for the playoffs.
