Taubaté took over the leadership of the 2019/20 Superliga Masculina regular season after beating Cruzeiro by a 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-22) in the penultimate round (Round 21). The Minas Gerais team, who suffered the second defeat in a row, was the leader of the competition before the match. With this result, they exchanged their position with the reigning champions and fell to No.2. Taubaté collected 54 points, while Cruzeiro have one point less. The decision of who will advance to the playoffs as the top seed will be made next Saturday when Taubaté host the Sesi-SP and Cruzeiro visit Ponta Grossa Vôlei. Leandro Vissotto and Ricardo Lucarelli top-scored for Taubaté with 15 points apiece. There were no players in double digits in scoring for Cruzeiro. That didn’t happen to them in a long, long time…
By losing to APAN Blumenau (3-2), Sesi-SP lost all chances of winning the third position as Sesc-RJ (beat Ponta Grossa Vôlei by a 3-1) are now four points ahead of them (44-40).
