Minas are the first semifinalists of the playoffs in the 2020/21 Brazilian Men’s Superliga Banco do Brasil. The Belo Horizonte side beat Blumenau by a 3-1 (25-21, 25-16, 24-26, 30-28) in Game 2 of the quarterfinals, adding a win to the one already earned at home.
Theoretically, this was supposed to be the most balanced confrontation of the quarterfinals because it was the clash between the 4th and 5th placed team in the regular season. However, the lower-ranked side, Blumenau, managed to take only one set from Minas in 2 matches. Cuban Yadrian Escobat top-scored the club from the Minas Gerais state with 27 points. Gustavo Bonatto ‘Gustavão’ set up 6 blocks.
Now, Minas await the winners of the face-off between Sada Cruzeiro and Vôlei UM Itapetininga. The latter took a surprising lead in series of 1-0.
