POL W: Legionovia shock Radomka in Game 1, Chemik down Budowlani

DPD IŁCapital Legionovia Legionowo staged a surprise at the start of the 2020/21 Polish Women’s Volleyball Championship playoff quarterfinals.



E.LECLERC MOYA Radomka Radom, 2nd after the regular season of the 2020/21 Polish Women’s TAURON Liga, failed to fulfill the role of the favorites against 7th-seed DPD IŁCapital Legionovia Legionowo in Game 1 of the playoff quarterfinals. The latter staged an upset and won the match by a 3-1 (15-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-22), coming to a step from progressing to the semis. Olivia Różański notched 25 points for Legionovia, while Maja Tokarska made 4 blocks. Brazilian Bruna Honório was on a high level in Radomka, scoring 31 points.

Grupa Azoty Chemik Police, 3rd in the regular season, prevailed over no.6 Grot Budowlani Łódź in Game 1. After a fairly even fight, the reigning champions won in 4 sets. 

Serbian Jovana Brakočević top-scored the winning side with 22 points. Agnieszka Kąkolewska set up 6 of the team’s 19 blocks, while Martyna Grajber made 85 % reception (13 digs, 54 % excellent). American Veronica Jones-Perry tallied 20 points for Budowlani. Maria Stenzel had 71 % reception (21 digs, 1 error, 38 % excellent).
