The reigning men’s club volleyball champions of Brazil, EMS Taubaté Funvic, informed that two more players are no longer part of the club.
Raphael Oliveira ‘Rapha’ and João Rafael Ferreira ended their staying at Taubaté. Both received proposals to play abroad next season.
A 42-year-old veteran Rapha ended a long and victorious adventure in the São Paulo club which lasted for 7 seasons and during which it won all 14 titles in history. The setter was the captain of Taubaté for all these years, leading them to win, among other titles, Paulista Championship six times (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019), Brazilian Cup two times (2015 and 2017), Super Cup two times (2019 and 2020) and Superliga two times (2018/19 and 2020/21).
João Rafael wore the jersey of Taubaté only in the last season. The 28-year-old outside hitter was involved in the conquests of the 2020 Super Cup and 2020/21 Superliga.
Prior to these two, the following players also left Taubaté in the off-season: Bruno, Borges, Douglas, and Roque. Maurício Souza and Lucão are at the exit door. The São Paulo club experiences major financial issues.
